A €12 starter shared by three people is €4 each. A €24 pizza where one person had twice as much is €12, €6 and €6. A €30 bottle of wine shared by everyone except one person splits three ways, not four. All of that is a couple of taps.
Quantities work the way a receipt does: three beers at €6.50 is one line worth €19.50, which you can leave as a single shared line or duplicate into separate ones.
Dragging a line onto a plate is a shortcut, never the only route. Tapping an item and then tapping people does exactly the same thing, works with a keyboard and a screen reader, and is the primary interaction on a phone.
